The Government of Canada is delivering an investment of up to $18.79 million over seven years to Biocardel Québec Inc. through the ecoENERGY for Biofuels program.
Biocardel Québec Inc., located in Richmond, Quebec, will produce about 40 million liters (10.6 million gallons US) of biodiesel a year. The project consists of converting vegetable or cooking oil or animal fat into biodiesel. The company intends to sell the product to diesel producers in Quebec, the Atlantic provinces and possibly the United States, which will include a percentage of biodiesel in their diesel.
The award is part of the $1.5 billion over nine years that the Government of Canada is investing through the ecoENERGY for Biofuels program. The Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan also dedicates $1 billion for the Clean Energy Fund and $1 billion for the Green Infrastructure Fund to provide additional economic stimulus.
