Eaton supplied a hybrid system which included the lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor, and worked closely with Daimler to jointly develop the power management logic and controls.

The Mercedes-Benz Atego BlueTec Hybrid was the first hybrid truck in Europe to gain European Type Approval. The Atego range of trucks was named 2011 Truck of the Year by a jury of commercial vehicle journalists and editors at the recent IAA Show in Hanover, Germany, based on its standard of excellence as an urban distribution truck and its innovative hybrid drive system.
