Shanghai GM Sail electric concept vehicle debuts at 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show

The Shanghai GM Sail electric concept vehicle (earlier post) made its global debut at the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show. Also highlighted among the 23 production and concept vehicles at the show is the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle.

The Sail electric concept vehicle was developed by Shanghai GM and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) in Shanghai, and is based on the Chevrolet Sail that went on sale at the beginning of the year.

The Sail electric concept vehicle is powered by a lithium-ion battery with maximum output of 65 kW and maximum torque of 220 N·m (162 lb-ft). It has a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph) and can go up to 150 kilometers (93 miles) on a single electric charge. It uses regenerative braking to produce additional energy. The Intelligent Charging Assisting System maximizes the energy conversion ratio.
