Chang’an opens Detroit R&D center

People’s Daily. Chang’an Motor has established the first R&D center by a Chinese automaker in Detroit; opened 18 January, the center will focus on chassis development.
According to Xu Liuping, president of Chang’an Motor, the R&D center will play a key role in the company’s overseas expansion following its already operating R&D centers in Italy, Japan and Britain.
Its R&D centers in China include operations in Chongqing, Shanghai, Beijing and Heilongjiang and Jiangxi provinces. Its Italian center focuses on styling, while that in Japan does interior design and the British facility produces engine and transmission engineering.
