Valence Technology batteries to power Courb EV

Valence Technology, Inc. will supply the lithium iron magnesium phosphate (LiFeMgPO4) batteries for a new electric vehicle designed by Courb. Valence is joining Courb at the official launch of their C-ZEN vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show.

The C-ZEN has a range of up to 205 kilometers (125 miles) with a top speed of 110 km/hour (68 mph) and is powered by a 15kW electric motor; it was designed to utilize Valence’s patented lithium phosphate batteries.

Because Valence’s cathode material has a high resistance to the liberation of oxygen, no significant exothermic event occurs upon heating. The redox voltage is low enough that no electrolyte decomposition occurs, thereby affording long cell life.
