Report: GM to sell S. Korean-made Captiva SUV In Japan

The Nikkei reports that General Motors Co. will begin selling South Korean-produced Captiva SUVs in Japan at the end of July, marking its first new vehicle offering here since 2009.

Compared with shipping autos from the US, the transport costs will be low, and the vehicle will be positioned as an affordable mid-to-large import with a sticker price of 3.54 million yen. GM Japan Ltd. will market the SUV.

The Captiva is part of the automaker’s Chevrolet line and was developed jointly at GM sites in the US, South Korea, Australia and Europe. The car features a 2.4-liter engine and can seat seven.
