Dutch EV charging station manufacturer Alfen joins Coulomb’s ChargePoint Network; Coloumb partnering with TomTom to expand EV driver services

Coulomb Technologies and leading European electric vehicle (EV) charging station manufacturer, Alfen announced that Alfen’s ICU Twin public charging station is the latest to be compatible with Coulomb’s ChargePoint Network.

The ChargePoint Network provides station owners with cloud-based service plans that handle all driver billing and support, and give them the control and flexibility needed for successful charging operations.

Alfen is Coulomb’s newest ChargePoint On-Ramp Program partner. A demonstration of the solution integration is being be shown at the Plug-In 2011 conference, and exhibition, 18-20 July in Raleigh, NC.

Coulomb and TomTom. Coulomb Technologies also announced it will partner with TomTom to extend ChargePoint Network driver services into electric vehicles (EV). The partnership will bring charging station location, navigation and reservation services to a driver’s dashboard. A demonstration of this technology partnership is being shown at the Plug-in 2011 event in Raleigh, NC.

TomTom’s navigation platforms can use the open ChargePoint Network Web Services API to assist drivers to:

  • find the nearest available charging station;
  • navigate to a destination and optimize the route for the nearest available charging stations;
  • reserve a charging station in advance for a time that is best for the route and the needed charging time; and
  • access charging station information including power, connector type, availability, and pricing.
