Cumulative vehicle production at Toyota China JV hits 1M mark

GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (GTMC), Toyota Motor Corporation’s (TMC) vehicle-production and sales company established jointly with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC), has produced more than 1 million vehicles since the start of production in 2006.
GTMC was established in 2004 as a base for Toyota-brand vehicle production and sales in China. Production began in May 2006 on Line No. 1 with the Camry, followed by the Yaris in May 2008. Line No. 2 opened with production of the Highlander in May 2009, followed by the Camry Hybrid in April 2010 and the E’Z in June 2011.
Production capacity for Line No. 1 is 200,000 vehicles per year; capacity for Line No. 2 is 160,000 vehicles per year.
GAC owns 50% of the venture, TMC owns 30.5% and Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (TMCI) owns 19.5%.
