Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 diesel-electric crossover now on sale; limited edition sold out
08 September 2011
The new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 (earlier post), the first full diesel hybrid light-duty passenger vehicle on the market, is now available to pre-order. Having sold out of the 3008 HYbrid4 limited edition (earlier post), the range offers two versions: a 99 g/km CO2 and a 104 g/km CO2 version.
HYbrid4 designates the hybridization of a diesel engine (2.0 liter HDi FAP 120 kW / 163 bhp) with an rear-axle-mounted electric motor offering a maximum power output of 27 kW (37 bhp). Peugeot says the choice of a diesel engine is based on its fuel consumption, reduced CO2 emissions and Peugeot’s latest generation Stop & Start technology.

The 3008 HYbrid4 crossover features 4 wheel drive; a maximum power output of 200 bhp; and an all-electric ZEV mode (Zero Emission Vehicle).
This is a very flexible design. As batteries improve, larger e-motor could be used to extend e-range and/or downsize the diesel ICE, further reduce fuel consumption and pollution.
