EC issues €26M call for transportation-related proposals; electric urban freight vehicles and heavy-duty LNG trucks

The European Commission has published a €26-million (US$36-million) call for transportation-related proposals. The call deals with a variety of topics under the headings of safe and seamless mobility, competitiveness through innovation and the European Green Cars Initiative. It specifically supports initiatives in the following topic areas:

  • The ‘European Green Cars Initiative’: Demonstration of Urban freight Electric Vehicles for clean city logistics. Up to 1 project is expected to be funded; the requested EU contribution shall not exceed €8 million.

  • Research For Heavy Duty Vehicles For Medium And Long Distance Road Transport: Demonstration of heavy duty vehicles running with liquefied methane. Up to 1 project is expected to be funded; the requested EU contribution shall not exceed €8 million.

  • Encouraging Modal Shift And Decongesting Transport Corridors: Towards an implementation of the NAIADES Action Areas. The requested EU contribution shall not exceed €2 million.

  • Integrated Safety And Security For Surface Transport Systems: Impacts of Intelligent Transport Systems on vulnerable road users. The requested EU contribution shall not exceed €3 million.

  • Competitive Surface Transport Products And Services: E-Maritime in support of compliance management. The requested EU contribution shall not exceed €3 million.

  • Cross-Cutting Activities: Forum to help implement the future orientation of the overall transport system as defined by the White Paper (€1.5 million); and Strategic high-level transport model (€3 million).

The final budget awarded to actions implemented through this call for proposals may vary by up to 10% of the total value of the call.
