Annual E85 sales top 1M gallon mark in North Dakota

Annual statewide sales of E85 (85% ethanol blend with gasoline) surpassed the 1 million gallon mark in North Dakota in September, according to the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest. Approximately 660,000 gallons of E85 were sold in North Dakota in 2010, up from 275,000 gallons in 2009.

The state now has more than 70 retail outlets for E85 and each month, sales of E85 in 2011 have exceeded that same month’s 2010 sales.

There are more than 41,000 flexible-fuel vehicles (FFVs) registered in North Dakota. The American Lung Association in North Dakota recognizes E85 as a Clean Air Choice that flex fuel vehicle drivers can make today to reduce their impact on air quality and lung health.
