Leviton introduces 32A, 240V home charging station

Leviton, a leading global manufacturer of electrical devices, unveiled the Evr-Green 320 Level 2 Home Charging Station, its latest member of the Evr-Green line of residential, commercial and public electric vehicle charging systems. The new device provides up to 32 amps at 240 volts AC (7.7 kW output) – reducing the charge time of any SAE J1772 compatible electric vehicle by 7% percent when compared to leading competitors.

The charging station has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the next-generation electric vehicles with larger on-board chargers, enabling consumers to “future-proof” their charging needs.

As an example, the new Ford Electric Vehicle (EV) Home Charging Station from Leviton—also a Level 2 device providing up to 32 amps at 240 volts AC (7.7 kW output)—fully charges the Ford Focus Electric’s 23 kWh battery in a little over three hours, leveraging the Focus’ 6.6 kW on-board charger.

Designed and assembled in the United States, the Evr-Green 320 Level 2 Home Charging Station includes a three-year limited warranty, and as with the entire Evr-Green line, complies with all industry safety and performance standards, including the current National Electrical Code. The device’s durable, weatherproof NEMA Type 4 steel enclosure easily installs in a cord connected installation when used with a Pre-Wire Installation Kit or can be converted to a hard-wired installation if required. The charging station is also available with either an 18- or 25-foot charging cable which provides more flexibility for mounting locations.

As an added customer safety feature, Leviton designed the home device with a ground monitor circuit and built-in communication to verify proper connection before charging can commence. The device’s “Auto-Restart” feature enables charging to restart following a minor fault, thereby reducing the chance of being stranded with an undercharged battery.

The Evr-Green 320 Level 2 Home Charging Station will be available through Leviton’s distribution channels: e-store, electrical distributors, retail partners and automakers in mid-April.
