New Ghibli will be Maserati’s first production diesel car; 3.0L V6

The new Maserati Ghibli, which will http://www.newspress.co.uk/ViewPressRelease.aspx?pr=42380 at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month, will be the first Maserati production car to be powered by a diesel engine, a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel.

The 4-door Ghibli will also feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and both rear-wheel drive and the new “Q4” all-wheel drive system.

The Ghibli will have a sportier character compared to the larger Quattroporte, launched at the beginning of this year. It is Maserati’s first sedan in this segment.

A diesel Maserati - I guess it is a sign of the times (in Europe) + it would give better range for high speed driving than a petrol engine.
