Halliburton deploys pilot fleet of nearly 100 CNG light-duty trucks

Halliburton, one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry, is deploying nearly 100 light-duty Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks across several field locations in the US. The Ford bi-fuel trucks were recently purchased as part of a pilot program to be rolled out throughout its US operations.

The new CNG truck fleet will be assigned to 15 US locations across seven states including Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, California, Louisiana, Utah and Pennsylvania.

There is considerable focus across the industry to identify multiple ways to leverage this abundant, reliable and cleaner burning source of energy in day-to-day operations. With this pilot program we expect to obtain a wealth of information on what it would take to bring about a successful, broader adoption of CNG light duty vehicles across the company.<

In addition to lower emissions, the vehicles, when operating on CNG, are estimated to save approximately US$5,100 per truck in fuel cost annually.
