Nissan LEAF top-selling EV in UK in January, with 230 registrations
10 February 2014
Nissan sold 230 units of the LEAF in the UK in January 2014. Nearly three-quarters of all battery-electrics sold in January 2014 were Nissan LEAFs, continuing the trend from 2013. A total of 154,562 new cars were registered in the UK in January, up 7.6%. according to figures from the UK’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
SMMT figures also revealed that alternatively-fueled vehicle registrations accounted for 2,859 units in January 2013, up 25% from January 2013, resulting in a 1.8% market share. Of these, the bulk were gasoline-electric hybrids.
Nissan also recently announced that 1,000 CHAdeMO rapid chargers have now been installed across Europe, with almost 20% of them in the UK. These units—which can recharge the Nissan LEAF from zero to 80% in 30 minutes—are available at 195 locations around the UK including IKEA stores, motorway services stations and Nissan dealerships, many of which are currently completely free for Nissan owners to use.
Nissan UK’s Sunderland Plant produces the Nissan Qashqai, Note and Juke and the LEAF; production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles began in 2012.
230 out of 154,562 is 0.0015 or 0.15% which is pretty well down in the noise.

Many of them are likely to be local authority buys and other corporates too.
Electric cars are exactly nowhere for private buyers in the UK
