Shanghai GM sells its millionth Sail
02 July 2014
Shanghai GM recently sold its one-millionth Chevrolet Sail since the introduction of the current generation of the popular small car in 2010. The Sail offers a choice of 1.2-liter or 1.4-liter gasoline engines.
It is targeted at young families who are first-time car buyers. Sixteen variants of the Sail sedan and hatchback are available, with an official starting price of RMB 56,800 (US$9,150).
The Sail was developed by Shanghai GM and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), becoming the first passenger car created in China by a Sino-foreign joint venture. Its development yielded 34 core technology patents.
Prior to being launched, it was put through about 100,000 kilometers of intensive road testing and more than 34 crash tests. In addition to being sold in China, the Sail is exported to several emerging markets.
"Chevrolet says the Sail, .. an affordable RMB 56,800 in China, roughly equivalent to $9149.49 USD." http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/07/chevrolet-sail-surpasses-1-million-sales-in-china/
vs over 25 million car recalls US.
China perhaps has different corruption.

Could it be that poor workmanship has moved from China to USA or to American GM?
We have been driving Toyotas for 30+ years. All made in Japan units were trouble free and long lasting. We have (confirmed) doubts that our recent made in USA/Canada units have the same inherent qualities?
