DOE issues Request for Information on aggregating purchases of alternative fuel vehicles

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a request for information (DE-FOA-0001312) to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on issues related to purchasing/procurement processes designed to coordinate and consolidate bulk alternative fuel vehicle (AFV), advanced vehicle orders, and vehicle subsystems.

DOE anticipates that an aggregated purchasing/procurement process will enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers to increase production volumes, achieve economies of scale, and reduce incremental vehicle costs specific to electric drive, natural gas, propane, hybrid, and other alternative fuel vehicles and advanced vehicle technologies.

The RFI seeks input in three areas: AFV consumers and fleets; vehicle OEMs and suppliers; and general AFV procurement.

Responses are due no later than 5:00pm (ET) on 13 March 2015.
