Tesla providing Range Assurance and Trip Planner application in Model S software update

Tesla Motors will address range anxiety for Model S drivers through an over-the-air (OTA) software update that will include a Range Assurance application that runs even when the car is shut off and a Trip Planner, CEO Elon Musk said during a press conference.

Range Assurance communicates with Tesla Superchargers en-route as well as available parking-spot chargers at a destination, and provides a warning to the driver when he or she is about to drive out of range. The system factors in terrain and driving style, “making it basically impossible for a Model S driver to run out of range unintentionally,” Musk said.

Trip Planner automatically displays the best charging options en route.

The next major release (version 7) of the Model S software will include autopilot functionality.

This news of: 'the end of range anxiety' has made Tesla crack the $200 a share barrier.

Going down.

Or perhaps that was the 26.8% decline year on year in registrations in California:

Or it might have been the layoffs in China:

That is together with their estimated 120 sales there in January.

It is still better to have a support team, like for hot air balloon trips.
