BRUSA Elektronik AG licenses WiTricity patent portfolio for wireless charging

BRUSA Elektronik AG, a leading global supplier of advanced power electronics for electrified vehicles, will license WiTricity’s patented intellectual property to commercialize efficient, high-performance wireless charging systems for carmakers.

BRUSA’s “ICS” wireless charging system, utilizing WiTricity’s patented technology, can transfer power to a vehicle safely and at high efficiency, eliminating the need for the charging cables required by existing electrified vehicles. WiTricity and BRUSA are both working with a number of international standards organizations to develop standards for wireless charging systems with the goal of ensuring interoperability of wireless charging systems for EVs and PHEVs on a global basis.

During the past year, several leading European and Japanese carmakers have publicly announced plans to introduce wireless charging for next-generation electrified vehicles. BRUSA is well positioned to be a Tier 1 supplier to these carmakers, and we look forward to the introduction of vehicles equipped with BRUSA wireless charging systems.
