Dürr acquires Industry 4.0 software specialist iTAC

Dürr has acquired 100% of the shares in the German software house iTAC Software AG. This will enable the machinery and plant engineering group to substantially extend its existing activities in the field of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)—the central component of Industry 4.0. (Earlier post.)

MES software allows machinery and plant in production lines and factories to be networked intelligently; iTAC is a leading providers in this future market.

The standardized MES software from iTAC collects huge volumes of data from all areas of a factory and evaluates the findings. This provides the operator with extensive real-time information on key production figures, such as consumption of materials and energy, cycle time and capacity utilization. The operator can use this to identify potential for optimization and to make production more efficient.

Together with iTAC, Dürr will further develop the existing Dürr MES software EcoEMOS. EcoEMOS is deployed in numerous automobile factories—among others in Volkswagen’s new Polish factory in Września—to control the entire facility.

The company iTAC Software AG was established in 1998 as a spin-off of Bosch’s telecommunications division. With a workforce of about 90 employees, the company combines expertise in the fields of IT and production technology. iTAC has already equipped more than 140 factories worldwide in various industry segments with the cloud-based MES software iTAC.MES.Suite.

Customers include carmakers and automotive component suppliers as well as major producers in the segments of electronics, telecommunications and medical technology.
