Daimler investing €500M to modernize Mercedes-Benz Hamburg plant; production of e-mobility components

Daimler is investing €500 million (US$567 million) to modernize the Mercedes-Benz Hamburg plant and is expanding its product portfolio to include key components for electric driving.

The production of axles and axle components, lightweight structural components and steering columns, along with exhaust technology, will remain an integral part of the plant. Lightweight structural components—such as the cockpit crossmembers for the C- and E-Class—will continue to be produced there as well.

Within the global powertrain production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars, the Hamburg plant develops and produces axles and axle components, steering columns and lightweight structural components, as well as exhaust technology components. Every Mercedes-Benz car contains at least one product from Hamburg.
