Volkswagen teases release of EV concept at Paris; production version to be 1st MEB vehicle
16 September 2016
At Mondial de l’Automobile Paris, Volkswagen will present a new EV concept; the production vehicle which follows will be the first Volkswagen to hit the market based on the new modular electrification kit (MEB) being developed by the brand.
"Volkswagen (...) intends for it to be as revolutionary as the Beetle was seven decades ago before it evolved into the world's best-selling car of the century."
Watch what you are saying, VW. Tesla fan-boys will be falling over themselves to point our your hubris and criticize anything without retractable door handles and 0-60 times above 4 seconds.

Today the world needs a small tough frugal electric car on the pattern of beetle of seven decades back. Wind and solar charging stations allover the world.
This can save millions of people dying from pollution from fuel.tesla has shown the path. Now world should rapidly go for small micro and mini cars, buses, tractors and trucks and two wheelers.

To be as revolutionary as the Beetle, VW will have to price the new EV low enough that it will again be "the people's car." Although I'm appalled by the diesel scandal, if they managed to do that and were in a position to build them in Beetle volumes, I'd quickly forgive and forget.
