Motiv Power Systems is commencing sales of its electric EPIC (Electric Powered Intelligent Chassis) 4 Series Dearborn chassis with Champion Bus, a REV Group company. The new electric shuttles feature the Challenger EV body manufactured by Champion in Imlay City, Michigan.
Based on the popular Ford E-450 platform, the EPIC 4 Dearborn chassis-equipped Champion Challenger EV is the first of its kind OEM integration for the North American shuttle bus market.
The Challenger EV is capable of meeting a wide variety of range requirements, while continuing to offer smooth, quiet operation with minimal maintenance and service needs. The Challenger EV will offer and 85% reduction in operating cost and 66% reduction in maintenance costs.
Motiv’s EPIC chassis have logged more than 350,000 real-world miles in Fortune 50 fleet deployments nationwide. The Challenger EVs are available for immediate purchase exclusively through Champion Bus dealers with deliveries commencing in the third quarter of 2018.
Motiv’s EPIC 4 chassis offers up to 75 miles of range with 85 or 106 kWh battery pack capacity. A 150 kW motor propels the vehicle up to 60 mph top speed.
