DOE: US plug-in vehicles consumed nearly 2 TWh of electricity in 2017
22 May 2018
Plug-in vehicles in the US consumer 1.94 TWh of electricity in 2017—a nearly 100x increase fomr the 0.02 TWh consumed in 2011, according to the US Department of Energy (DOE).
The share of electricity consumption from all-electric (BEV) increased compared to the electricity consumption from plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). In 2017, BEVs accounted for about 57% of all PEV electricity consumption while PHEVs accounted for the remaining 43%.

Electrified two wheelers, cars, trucks, buses and trains are being introduced much faster in China and will soon use 6+ TWh/year.
Luckily, new clean power sources (Nuke, Hydro, Wind and Solar) are simultaneously being introduced to produce enough electricity and clean H2.
