Daimler Buses delivers first two of up to 950 Citaro buses to Berlin; additional order for up to 15 eCitaro electrics

Daimler Buses has delivered the first Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses as part of the largest order ever to Germany’s biggest bus fleet. A Citaro solo bus and a Citaro G articulated bus are the pioneers; as many as 948 Citaros are to follow, 20 of which will be delivered this year.

Over the next few years, BVG will be able to call on up to 600 articulated buses and 350 solo buses incrementally. They are powered by efficient and low-emission Euro VI engines.

The BVG has ordered an additional 15 units of the new, all-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro. They will be delivered from the first quarter of 2019.

Articulated (132 passengers) e-buses may be one of the best way to lower pollution, GHGs and operation cost.

A hand to Berlin/Germany for this large purchase.

When will New York, LA, Chicago, Houston, Detroit, Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and 20 other large cities in North America do the same?
