BMZ Group partners with Samsung SDI, ordering ~US$1B worth of Li-ion cells

The BMZ Group, the largest manufacturer of lithium-ion battery systems in Europe, is launching a long-term cooperation in the field of electromobility with Samsung SDI. BMZ will order just under US$1 billion worth of cells from the Korea-based battery maker over the next five years.

BMZ Group is a global player in the production of lithium-ion system solutions. The group is headquartered in Germany and has production facilities in China, Poland and the US, as well as offices in Japan and France. In addition, there are research and development sites worldwide.

BMZ’s large European automotive customers will double their electric vehicle production volumes in the coming year. The BMZ Group is responding to the high demand in the market with further capacity expansion.
