Nissan completes sale of battery business to Envision Group
31 March 2019
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has completed the previously announced sale of its electric battery operations and production facilities to Envision Group, a world-leading digital energy company.
The new battery company is scheduled to start operations on 1 April 2019.
Perhaps Envision will offer replacement Leaf batteries at a fair price which would improve the Leaf's resale value and make it a desirable used car. Currently that's not the case because Nissan completely blew their battery business...400,000 used Leafs, Worldwide without a clearly defined, fairly priced, battery replacement policy.
Tesla sees batteries as the key to their products...as a guess I would say Nissan still thinks like an fossil fuel driven OEM...perhaps Envision can help change that culture.
