BYD, Apparent to partner on intelligent solar energy project at Lancaster EV plant

BYD will partner with Apparent Inc to develop a 2MW solar and 2 MWh energy storage project at its Lancaster Coach & Bus manufacturing plant, demonstrating the company’s mission to be a total green energy solution provider.

BYD will own and operate the project utilizing BYD solar panels and batteries and Apparent’s intelligent grid operating software (igOS). BYD Coach & Bus will buy power from the system under a 25-year agreement. The system is expected to be operational Fall of 2019.

The system showcases BYD’s commitment to a total green ecosystem with the ability to generate, store, and use zero-emission energy to power buildings as well as zero- emission vehicles.

Apparent’s igOS identifies and signals to BYD’s battery system to charge during times of low demand and discharge during peak times. In this case, it allows BYD to save more than $100,000/annually in energy with the same upfront costs.

The Lancaster plant is the first official project that is a part of BYD and Apparent’s strategic partnership to help deploy more efficient zero emission energy.

A green energy system announced, installed and in operation within a 12 months period is nothing like a nuclear system taking 12+ years.

No wonder 24/7 REs are winning in many places and NPPs are going out?
