Hamburg VHH orders 20 more MAN Lion’s City E electric buses

Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) has ordered 20 more fully electric city buses from MAN Truck & Bus: 10 Lion’s City 12 E and 10 articulated Lion’s City 18 E buses.

VHH brought MAN Truck & Bus its first sales success for electric buses at the end of 2019. All 17 MAN Lion’s City 12 E that have been ordered are now in use.

Ten of the MAN Lion’s City 12 E that have already been delivered are on the road for VHH in Norderstedt. For this purpose, the company has set up the first electrified VHH depot in Schleswig-Holstein. This has a total of twelve charging points at which the eBuses are charged with green electricity overnight.

The long-lasting batteries guarantee that they can be easily integrated into existing operating processes when charged through overnight charging—an important criterion for VHH in addition to reliability, safety, range and convenience. With the expansion of the depot, VHH has also already created the prerequisites for possible future further electrification.

The remaining seven eBuses operate on the VHH lines in the east of Hamburg.
