Germany awards contracts for 8,000 fast-charging points for Deutschlandnetz
28 September 2023
Germany’s Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) has successfully completed the first tender for the German fast-charging network Deutschlandnetz. A total of ten different companies will build and operate around 900 locations with almost 8,000 new ultra-fast charging points for electric cars.
BMDV selected:
- Allego GmbH
- BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH
- E.ON Drive Infrastructure GmbH
- Eviny Elektrifisering AS
- Fastned Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG
- EWE Go HOCHTIEF Ladepartner GmbH & Co. KG
- Mer Germany GmbH
- Pfalzwerke AG
- Total Energies Marketing Germany GmbH
- Via Deutschlandnetz (VINCI Concessions Deutschland GmbH)
Individual mobility is a great asset in a free society. Therefore, I am pleased that we, as the Federal Ministry of Transport, are setting a milestone with the Deutschlandnetz, which ensures a reliably available range of fast charging options in Germany for users. With the Deutschlandnetz, we meaningfully and purposefully complement the expansion activities of the charging infrastructure operators. Simply fast charging without gaps on the charging map becomes a reality.
—Federal Minister Dr. Volker Wissing
To create the charging infrastructure throughout Germany, the BMDV has defined 900 locations for the Deutschlandnetz (Germany network) in which the individual charging locations are built. The goal is to have charging locations wherever users need the charging infrastructure. These locations have been determined by the National Control Center Charging Infrastructure and take into account both the existing fast charging infrastructure and the increasing number of electric cars in the coming years.
With the granting of these contracts, part of the tendering process for the Deutschlandnetz is completed. The final phase is the tender of the federal Autobahn GmbH for fast charging locations at 200 unmanaged motorway rest facilities. The Deutschlandnetz thus will contain a total of more than 1000 locations in the two tenders and thus ensures that the next fast charging point can be reached anywhere in Germany in a few minutes.
