Germany developing National Action Plan for climate-friendly shipping

The Federal Ministry of Transport in Berlin launched the development of the National Action Plan for climate-friendly shipping. The action plan is being developed as an initiative of the Federal Government by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK).

Representatives of the shipping industry, the maritime industry and science, energy suppliers, industrial and environmental associations, the financial sector and the public administration of the federal and state governments are closely involved in the strategy development.

As part of the kick-off event, the fields of action were presented on the basis of which the contents of the action plan will be developed within the framework of several interdisciplinary face-to-face and online dialogue formats:

  • Alternative drive and energy systems

  • Supply of climate-friendly energy sources

  • Supply of climate-friendly energy sources

  • Fleet modernization

  • Maritime industrial policy

  • Green shipping corridors

Results are to be presented at the upcoming National Maritime Conference.
