Dow launches DOWSIL CC-8000 Series UV and Dual Moisture Cure Conformal Coatings for protection of electronic components

Dow has introduced DOWSIL CC-8000 Series UV and Dual Moisture Cure Conformal Coatings, a range of solventless silicone coatings that provides strong protection for electronic components in renewable energy applications, as well as e-motors, power tools and home appliances, and does so at lightning speed.

DOWSIL CC-8000 Series UV and Dual Moisture Cure Conformal Coatings cure “on-demand” via UV/LED with a secondary cure for shadowed regions. The ability to cure in seconds with broad spectrum UV or LED light allows for high production throughput and reduced energy costs when compared with heat-cure materials and time compared to room-temperature cure materials.

Manufactured without added solvents, these one-part, translucent conformal coatings also create a better work environment for those working in electronics manufacturing and require a smaller equipment footprint, helping to reduce operating costs. Additionally, they provide stability in harsh conditions, offering excellent protection in highly humid environments and against contamination, excellent flame retardancy and stress relief.

DOWSIL CC-8000 Series UV and Dual Moisture Cure Conformal Coatings are available in a variety of viscosities and application methods allowing manufacturers to select the coating that meets their specific needs and helps them reduce waste through targeted placement:

  • DOWSIL CC-8030 Conformal Coating features a low viscosity and is suitable for high-speed production methods, including manual or automated spraying, flow, or jetting techniques. These faster flowing materials can also be utilized when coatings need to flow through vias or under chips.

  • DOWSIL CC-8033 Conformal Coating features a medium viscosity and can support high-speed production methods, as well as needle dispensing for damming, keep out regions and when thicker coating protection is required.

  • DOWSILCC-8036 Conformal Coating features a high viscosity that is suitable for needle dispensing and applications that require the ability to increase control over the speed and distance of flow. This higher viscosity coating also allows for thicker coating layers in one pass.
