Nissan launches updated Note Asura NISMO with new e-POWER 4WD variant

Nissan launched the updated Note Aura NISMO with an engaging new 4WD variant, styling refinements and enhanced functionality to customers in Japan. The Aura NISMO is based on the Aura, a premium compact car sold in the Japan market, powered exclusively by Nissan’s innovative e-POWER drivetrain.
Nissan’s e-POWER technology offers fully electric motor drive. The wheels are driven exclusively by an electric motor, while a gasoline engine charges the car’s high-output battery, running at optimal speeds to ensure fuel efficiency.
The updated Aura NISMO delivers a high performance driving experience through specialized tuning that draws on NISMO’s racing expertise, together with styling that balances aerodynamic performance and modern design aesthetics.
The new e-POWER 4WD variant features a NISMO-tuned electric 4WD system. Compared to the standard Aura 4WD model, the rear motor of the NISMO tuned e-POWER 4WD is improved to deliver 10 kW increased output and an additional 50 N·m of torque, along with specialized tuning for front and rear drive distribution.
This enables the NISMO tuned e-POWER 4WD to provide drivers with enhanced cornering performance and ensures superior control on slippery surfaces such as wet or snowy roads.
The NISMO tuned e-POWER 4WD variant is equipped with unique lightweight 17-inch aluminum wheels that have been engineered to reduce air pressure within the wheel wells and generate downforce when in motion.
What always strikes me is why not make a PHEV version of this with a small battery, say 3-8 kWh which would give 10-25 miles of fully e-driving.
Maybe Nissan know better, maybe they want some of the engine waste heat to heat the vehicle, maybe it gets too heavy or we lose too much internal space - it strikes me that they must have thought of it (and rejected it).

Always wonder what is advantage of e power and how efficient it is in terms of kms per litre.
