In Germany, parking fees and fuel in all current BMW models can be paid directly in the vehicle

From now on, customers in Germany can pay the fuel bill digitally from the vehicle at participating fuel stations in all vehicles with BMW Operating System 8, 8.5 and 9. A credit card is used as a means of payment, which the customer has previously deposited in the vehicle via the My BMW app or via the corresponding menu.

Fuel payments in the vehicle are already possible at participating stations of Aral, Esso, HEM, Q1, Sprint, Team and Allguth.

over the next few weeks, the function will also be usable for customers with vehicles equipped with the BMW Operating System 7. In total, more than 500,000 customers in Germany alone can pay fuel bills directly from their BMW.

In the Tank Payments app, customers can quickly and easily find stations in the area where payment from the vehicle is possible by clicking on the “Find a gas station” tile. In BMW Maps, a check mark for online payment can also be set in the settings when searching for stations, both without active destination guidance and along the active route. In this way, the customer can quickly and easily reach stations where the function is supported.

After the engine has been turned off on arrival at a corresponding gas station, the Tank Payments app offers payment on the central screen. The customer then only has to confirm the station, select the fuel pump and complete the process with “Activate and pay now”.

The customer receives a notification on the central screen and additionally a push notification via the My BMW app—e.g. B. “Please start the refueling process at fuel pump 8”—and can refuel as usual. Confirmation of the fuel quantity and costs is displayed on the central screen. The customer can track past payments and refueling operations at any time in the app in the vehicle and in the My BMW app.

Users of the BMW iX5 Hydrogen from the BMW Group Hydrogen Pilot Fleet can also pay their hydrogen bill directly from the vehicle next to the fuel pump at the hydrogen filling stations of H2 MOBILITY Germany.

H2 MOBILITY is a pioneer in the development of a public hydrogen filling station network and Europe’s largest operator of public hydrogen stations. The payment system can be used at the majority of H2 stations in Germany. The short refueling time of 3-5 minutes makes hydrogen refueling extremely time-saving. With the convenient payment, the entire process is now even easier and more convenient for users.

In many European countries, BMW customers can also pay parking fees directly in the vehicle. This makes parking in paid parking zones in vehicles with BMW Operating System 7, 8, 8.5 and 9 particularly comfortable. Upon arrival in a parking zone, the vehicle automatically recognizes whether the service is available and displays the payment function if the parking zone is recorded by one of the connected providers. The booking can be conveniently paid for with the credit card stored in the My BMW app. When the vehicle leaves the parking lot again, the parking reservation will be automatically terminated.

If minute-by-minute billing is possible in the parking zone, the parking period will automatically end as soon as the customer leaves the parking lot. The function is also integrated into the My BMW app. In the Services & Store tab, customers can terminate active bookings, view the parking history and manage their payment methods.

A single account opens up access to the convenient payment of parking fees and fuel costs: the BMW ConnectedDrive Account or the BMW ID. In the vehicle, the customer must register with the BMW ID and activate the services parking payments and tank payments once. To deposit the payment method, a QR code is displayed on the central screen in the vehicle, so that the payment data can be entered via the smartphone. The BMW Group works together with the service provider Parkopedia to process payments.
