Smoltek Hydrogen receives an order from a leading automotive manufacturer for electrodes used in fuel cells

Smoltek Nanotech Holding announced that a leading automotive manufacturer has ordered a number of prototypes of Smoltek Hydrogen’s nanostructure coating modified for fuel cells. This is the second major vehicle manufacturer to order custom-made prototypes of Smoltek’s pioneering hydrogen solutions technology.
Smoltek Hydrogen, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Smoltek Group, has developed a porous transport electrode for the anode in PEM electrolyzers that can significantly reduce the amount of iridium in a electrolytic cell. With changes in the basic configuration, the technology of the electrode can be modified so that it can also be used for fuel cell applications.
Earlier this year, a world-leading vehicle manufacturer ordered a custom-made prototype from Smoltek Hydrogen for evaluation. Now another major player in the automotive industry has placed an order for specially manufactured prototypes to test in small fuel cells.
In this type of evaluation project, the technology is first tested in small centimeter-sized cells. In the next step, the technology is scaled up to a format of 5x5 cm, which is common for evaluating the durability of the electrode through long-term tests.
