In 2023, the top waterborne exports from the United States for both weight and value were crude petroleum and natural gas, according to the US Department of Energy (DOE).

By value, motorized vehicles were the third highest product category exported through the seaports. Motorized vehicles, gasoline, and transport equipment combined represent 16% of all waterborne exports by value.
