Chevy Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept tackles the Mint 400
06 March 2025
Chevrolet unveiled the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the Mint 400 off-road race, where the truck will also compete in the event as part of the Hall Racing team’s lineup. The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept joins the team’s Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 race trucks, and Chad Hall will drive the all-electric off-road race truck in the Open Production EV class.
Though a concept, the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck follows the same ZR2 formula as the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2:
Lifted, front and rear suspension with specific off-road tuning that continues to deliver on the pavement
Multimatic damper technology
Locking differentials
Underbody skid protection
The high-performance, off-road Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept came to life quickly, after only five months of development, and features roughly 98% GM production parts. The cornerstone of the race truck’s off-road chops is prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve continuously adaptive dampers. These dampers provide off-road performance for the more than 13 inches of front and rear wheel travel.
Combined with the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck’s 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires, and a tri-motor electric propulsion system that creates 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, the race truck concept more than earns the ZR2 badge.
No stranger to the desert and off-road racing, Chevrolet engineers will embed themselves with the Chad Hall Racing team to analyze the race truck’s performance, durability and capability. Each learning will be applied to production vehicles, performance parts and accessories from Chevrolet. Today, more than 44 off-road performance parts and accessories are available for customers to buy for production trucks.
The Silverado ZR2 race truck concept’s reveal comes as Chevy prepares to launch this summer the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, its first off-road oriented EV variant. Trail Boss is a more off-road capable Silverado EV with a factory-installed lift, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires and red tow hooks. New Terrain Mode gives the truck increased maneuverability in tight spaces.
