Hello, I am Mike Millikin, the founder and editor of Green Car Congress. I was trained as a journalist (Medill MSJ) but spent most of my first career in the IT and Internet industry. I ended up running NetWorld+Interop, the global interoperability event and ran COMDEX, the computer tradeshow. I ran the online division of the first iteration of Red Herring magazine, and consulted for Internet security and content management systems companies.
In 2004, I became captivated with the prospects of “green transportation” and energy, and began to dig into it in the only way I knew: through the technology. This effort became Green Car Congress. This expanded over the following years to encompass explorations of new engines, new fuels, new energy supplies, ship propulsion, aviation and so on.
With the Internet, I had the pleasure and thrill of participating in technology-fueled markets that grew insanely and made a profound difference. A similar type of transition—arguably even more profund—is reshaping transportation.
I believe in the power of combining advanced and emerging technology with education and emerging communities of buyers. When you get that fuel mix right, you get a rocket ride.
My experience tells me that the way to do this is through focused education and discussion amongst the stakeholding communities.
Thank you stopping by and participating.
